Victoria College’s Emergency Medical Services Program awarded eight students their Emergency Medical Technician certificates on Dec. 12 at VC’s Student Center.

Each student completed 180 hours of labs and clinicals in the one-semester course. They are all eligible to take the National Registry EMT exam to gain certification.

“This is the most promising group of graduates who plan to continue to the paramedic level since I have been at Victoria College,” said Victoria College EMS Program Coordinator/Instructor Susie Jechow. “There is a real demand for paramedics. We have area EMS agencies recruiting from our graduate pool. The need for certified EMS professionals is growing rapidly.”

Josh Fromme was named valedictorian of the class, and Destani Guzman was named salutatorian. Cameron Buchholz and Precille Delgado shared the Best Clinical Performance Award, and Hannah Frank received the Best in Lab Award for her skills performance.

Registration for the Spring 2018 semester EMT class has started. The class will begin on Jan. 22.
